At The Cornwall, we find that when meeting organisers think everything through in advance, the day runs really smoothly. That’s why we always spend time with our business customers, making sure that everything is in place and ready.
Here’s how we can help you with all the details of your meeting, leaving you free to get the business outcomes you want.
Get the meeting space right
We have various options for meeting spaces. There’s the splendid formal boardroom in the Victorian White House part of The Cornwall, which combines modern meeting equipment with elegant Victorian-style décor. Here you have the free WiFi and AV equipment you’d expect from a conference facility, in a much more glamorous environment than usual. There are plenty of breakout rooms in the hotel; and delegates often spill out into the terrace and gardens on a nice day.
For something a bit different, and a bit less formal, businesses occasionally borrow one of our Woodland Homes for a meeting. Here you have the advantage of absolutely no distractions, a big table to work around, a kitchen for refreshments, and plenty of breakout space.
If people aren’t comfortable, they can’t concentrate. It’s really worth thinking through the environment.
Make sure you have the right equipment
We’ve all been there – that cringey moment when the presenter can’t get the AV equipment to work. Video conferencing produces more gaffes than You’ve Been Framed, but it’s really not what you want. It’s always worth having a dry run first to check that you’re comfortable with the equipment, and we’ll make sure that everything is in perfect working order.
And don’t forget the low-tech kit. Sometimes you can’t beat good old fashioned pens and paper. We’ll make sure all that is in place, and can be easily replenished.
Let us do all the behind-the-scenes stuff
This is the aspect that our business customers really appreciate – we assign a member of staff to you, so anything you need from secretarial help to MORE COFFEE!!! can be arranged quickly and calmly. Concentrate on your meeting, and we’ll be there in the background, making sure that the printer is printing, the copier is copying, and the biscuits keep on coming.
Before the meeting, we recommend that you come round to The Cornwall, have a look at the place, and discuss what you need with us. Pre-planning helps us make sure we have everything in place for you.
Keep those energy levels up
What’s the first thing people think of when you tell them that the away-day will be held at a hotel? That’s right. The food. The chance to eat good food at the company’s expense is always an attractive prospect! However, the social side of a meeting has a serious benefit: it’s the chance for people to get together away from their usual environment, which is great for building team relationships.
There are several options for your pitstop. We can arrange a buffet in the meeting rooms, or have a table ready for you in the Parkland Terrace. Of course, you could always treat the team to a meal at the Elephant Bar & Brasserie, perhaps as a celebration at the end of the day.
If your meeting is shorter, we’ll still make sure that nobody’s energy has the chance to dip with tea, coffee and biscuits in constant supply.
A change of scene, away from the daily distractions of the workplace, can often result in very productive meetings. But most of all, we want you to enjoy holding your meeting at The Cornwall!
Don’t feel confined to the meeting room, but make the most of The Cornwall as your meeting venue. The 43-acre estate is a marvellous space to find inspiration or just have a breather. Take some time in the Victorian Walled Garden, or blow away the cobwebs with a woodland walk.
The Clearing Spa is a fabulous place to unwind post-meeting, and we can arrange a day package that includes this. Of course, you and your colleagues may just decide to relax in the bar afterwards…
