What are the benefits of a spa treatment?
There are so many reasons why a spa day is beneficial – we can give you at least 26! So, from A-Z, here’s why you should treat yourself to a treatment at the Clearing Spa.
Aches and pains
A soothing massage can make your aches and pains, including arthritic ones, feel much better. Just let your therapist know so they’re aware of any conditions.
This is about being comfortable in your own skin. After a few spa treatments, most people feel far more confident about their bodies, in a way that’s far healthier than stressing about being “beach ready”.
Because massage stimulates blood flow, it is thought to be great for improving your circulation. We use Swedish massage techniques, which promote blood circulation, which in turn leads to healthy muscles.
A body exfoliation like our Ultimate Cornwall Experience treatment gets rid of the invisible build-up of everyday grime. Be like the Romans and enjoy an invigorating body scrub – you’ll emerge tingling.
You’ll also emerge from your treatment zinging with energy. Follow your treatment with a swim, a drench shower and a smoothie from the Juice Bar, and you’ll feel energised and ready for anything.
A spa day with friends and family is a wonderful way to bond. Many of our guests come with their best friend or their mum, and we also offer couples’ sessions. A relaxing (and healthy) alternative to a baby shower or a hen night.
Mums-to-be are supposed to “glow” – but sometimes during your pregnancy, you need a little help to feel fabulous! If you’re feeling tired or heavy or weighed down with hormones, a tailored pregnancy treatment can be just the thing to give you a lift.
Massage releases serotonin, one of the hormones that makes us feel good. The physical touch from another human is so important for our happiness.
A massage may give your immune system a boost. By increasing white blood cell activity, your massage may help you keep viruses at bay. A good excuse for a winter spa day?
Arthritis or joint pain? A massage can soothe your symptoms, and time spent in the whirlpool or infinity pool will support aching joints beautifully. Speak to your doctor about how this could benefit you.
Kind to yourself
We’re all so scared of seeming selfish that sometimes we forget our own needs while taking care of others’. A spa treatment is about being kind to yourself, about giving yourself that bit of breathing space.
The lymph system filters and cleans our bodies. A lymph draining massage keeps the system working well, which in turn, keeps us feeling healthy and less prone to infections. Long massage strokes increase the lymph flow and reduce toxins.
Having a treatment is an opportunity to free your mind from everyday stressors. As the mindfulness meditation technique teaches, it’s important to let go, and simply be in the here and now.
Our aromatherapy treatments use fine natural ingredients. Seed scrubs, essential oils, and herbs and spices such as lavender and ginger are used to create treatments that have been known and loved for centuries. And you’ll smell amazing…
You can’t check your work emails or Twitter feed during a treatment. And in these frenetic days, this is definitely a huge benefit. Leave it in the locker and sign out for a while.
It does sound yucky, we agree; however everyone’s pores get clogged up every day with sweat, make-up, and general dirt from the atmosphere. After a facial and an exfoliation, you’ll notice a real difference to how your skin looks and feels.
If you’re buying a present for busy person, a spa voucher gives them something that they really need – some “me-time”.
A spa treatment can’t turn the clock back – but a facial can help maintain the elasticity of your skin, keeping you feeling and looking younger.
A massage can be a complementary treatment of stress and anxiety, and is recommended by mental health charity Mind. If you’re feeling tense, worried, or are experiencing low-mood, a massage can really help your sense of wellbeing.
Can you feel that physical tension in your body? Try our Muscle Release Experience massage, designed to help disperse the build-up of lactic acid.
And this is why most of us love a spa day – the chance to really relax. Everything is designed to help you unwind, from the moment you first slip into your robe, to sipping that post-treatment drink in the spa’s private bar.
Not the most glamourous of subject – but lots of us suffer from these at some point, especially if we’re on our feet a lot. If your job keeps you on your toes, treat yourself to regular leg massages.
A spa day also involves a lot of this wonderful, soothing element. Whether you’re pounding the pool, or simply lying back in the whirlpool, your body will feel nurtured and supported, and your mind at ease.
Xercise (Ok, we cheated here)
As well as a treatment, you can make the most of all the Clearing Spa’s facilities and work out in the gym or in the infinity pool.
It’s not just your skin that gets all the nutrients in a Clearing Spa day. The Juice Bar will serve you a delicious and nutritious lunch or snack, made from gorgeous Cornish ingredients. Definitely a holistic approach to wellbeing!
Many of our customers tell us that they sleep well after their spa treatment. Look out for our one-night Relax and Revive packages for a truly relaxing night’s sleep…
Have we convinced you? From emotional wellbeing to fabulous skin, there are so many benefits from spending some time in the Spa.
